We are particularly interested in persons with legal, human rights, social work and communications backgrounds. What We Offer Our InternsOur program is designed to provide interns with exposure to the legal and social aspects of public interest work, thereby allowing them to develop skills and an insight into how law and social activism combined can achieve concrete results. Interns are assigned to work with a specific unit based on their interests and unit needs. Each intern is given an individual project to complete during his/her tenure at the HRLN. Internship duties often include factual and legal research relating to our initiatives, drafting public interest petitions, fact-findings, publications, and the planning of workshops and conferences. Interns will also be responsible for some general administrative duties and may also have the opportunity to travel to different regions for some assignments. What We Expect Of Our InternsInterns are an integral part of our dynamic team and we greatly value their efforts, creativity and contributions. In providing our interns with a challenging, friendly and fulfilling experience, we expect that in return interns will behave in a professional and responsible manner during their time with the HRLN. All interns must be willing to make a minimum commitment of four weeks and are expected to submit a report to their supervisors at the close of their internship outlining the work they have completed. They will also be required to fill out a feedback form. Expenses, Travel & AccomodationUnfortunately, we are unable to provide any financial assistance for internships, including travel and accommodation costs. However, we encourage those interested in working with us to obtain scholarships or grants through universities, foundations or other funding agencies. We are happy to supply letters of support to assist in this process. Additionally, we can also provide information to assist interns in finding suitable accommodations. Application ProcessEvery year HRLN hosts approximately 50 interns at our units in various parts of the country. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. To apply for an internship with the HRLN, please remit a cover letter, stating your qualifications and the time period during which you would like to intern, and a CV by e-mail to the regional office (link) of interest. We would also be interested in receiving a writing sample in English or any other Indian language. We advise that you submit your application at least one month prior to your anticipated start date to provide sufficient time for review. Intern selections are based on both qualifications and specific unit needs. We encourage applicants from underrepresented groups such as adivasis and dalits. Applicants should contact HRLN (Delhi) or ICHRL (Mumbai) with any questions concerning the internship program or the application process. MAHARASHTRA ICHRL |
