One Example of the diversity in India is the number of courses that each state offers: courses that no one has heard or read about yet. We have covered 28 Indian states and Union Territories, listed in alphabetical order.
Besides identifying the programme for each state, we have also given the website of the university where the programme is offered. We hope this facilitates your desire to do something different.

Andhra Pradesh
Andhra University – Vishakhapatnam
Established in 1925, Andhra University got carved out the College of Arts and Commerce in 1966. The college offers a wide range of courses, from certification to P.G. degree courses.

Arunachal Pradesh
Arunachal University (now Rajiv Gandhi University) – Itanagar
Formerly known as Arunachal University, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) came into being in 1984. With, a department like Tribal Studies on the offer; RGU stands firm in its ideology of salvaging the cultural heritage of its state and helping the socio-economics environment to expand.
Course: The department offers four degrees, one each in M.A (Anthropology), M.Phil programme and Ph.D programme.

Guahati University – Guwahati

Pt.Ravi Shankar shukla University-Raipur
This is chhattisgarh’s largest and oldest institution of higher education founded in 1964. The college offers two diploma courses in Remote Sensing & GIS and Watershed Technology and management.

Goa
Goa University-Taleigao
Goa University got established in 1985 at the Taleigao Plateau in Goa. The university runs 23 PG departments and two centers of studies offer academic programmes leading to masters and PH.D. Degrees in various disciplines. The faculty of language and literature at GU, offers MA in Konkani. The faculty of life sciences and environment on the other hand, offers a P.G .Diploma in clinical genetics and medical laboratory techniques.

Veer Narmad south Gujarat University-Surat
Established on 18 august 1966 and now accredited with B++ (equivalent to a five star) by NAAC (the national assessment and accreditation council), the college has started an advanced diploma in medicinal plants.

Guru Jhambeshwar University-Hisar
It was established on 20th October 1995 at Hisar. The college offers masters of technology programme in integrated product design and manufacturing. The course combines theory with practical training.

Established on 22 July 1970, Himachal University is located in vicinity of the Indian institute of advanced studies. The department of economics under the faculty of social sciences offers a diploma in population studies. Jharkhand
Indian school of mines-Dhanbad
Formally opened on 9th December 1926 and situated in the heart of the prime coking coal belt, 260 kms off from kolkata, the Indian school of mines has campus spree ovr99 hectare. The school also boasts of a fully residential, world-class facility, their B.tech in mining engineering is most famous. Admission however is through IIT –JEE.

University of my –Mysore
Founded in July 27 1916 this was the first university outside the domain of the English administration in India, the sixth university in India and the first ever university in Karnataka. The college boasts of department of jainology and Prakrit, which offers subsequent postgraduate courses in jainology, and Prakrit.

The University of Travancore that eventually became the University of Kerala was established in 1937. The oriental research institute & manuscripts library is one of the leading centers of indological studies in the country. Researchers troop in from all over India and abroad. Amravati University
Established on1st may 1983 this university geographically covers the entire western vidarbha belt of Maharashtra state. The faculty of home science at offers MSc. And PhD programmes in family resource management. The duration of the course is two years and the intake is 10 students.

Meghalaya
North eastern Hill University - Shillong
Set-up on 19th July 1973, the university’s centre for creative arts was opened in 1977 and it provides a slew of programmes in visual and performing arts. The centre for literary and cultural studies meanwhile was started in 1984 to promote cultural studies, with special emphasis on folklore of the North-Eastern Region.
In 1997,the two centers were merged to form the present centre for cultural and creative studies .it offers the following programmes:

Nagaland
Nagaland university-kohima
Established in 1994 as a central university, tenyi-die, a language local to Nagaland is offered as a course in higher education at this university. The department offers a two year course of post graduate degree in tenyidie literature covered in four semesters. He study is a language-oriented course, which includes 50% component of tenyidie literature 25% English literature and 25% linguistics. The tenyidie section also packs in a compulsory dissertation.

Punjabi University - Patiala
This is one of the premier institutions of higher education in northern India which was established on the 30th April 1962. this is the second university in the world to be name after a language, the first being Hebrew university of Israel. The university boasts of two very distinct departments, namely the department of dance and the department of defense and strategic studies.
The department of dance offers a two year MA and a three years B.A degree in Indian dances, while the department of defense just strategic studies offers just a two years M.A courses.
