TIBET CHARITY INDIA SCHOLARSHIP 2008
Aims and Objectives:
1. To enable young Tibetans to become self-reliant by supporting them in their pursuit of professions and related training courses.
2. To support needy Tibetans with records of consistently positive performances in their studies.
3. To encourage social responsibility by requiring the scholarship recipients to return a percentage of the scholarship money to us after they become employed or self-supporting so that more such candidates could be supported on a continuous basis.
4. To encourage parental responsibility for child education and career pursuit by requiring parents to pay a percentage of their children’s total educational cost.
5. To boost skill resource and promote diverse occupational pursuits within the Tibetan.
6. To initiate such programmes and projects as may be necessary or incidental to carrying out the above objectives.
Eligibility:
1. Scholarships shall be granted only for pursuing Post-Graduate Professional Diplomas, Under-Graduate Professional Diplomas and Under-Graduate Professional Courses.
2. Applicants must be bona fide Tibetan nationals.
3. Applicants must have secured a minimum of 55% average marks in their most recent Board exams (for class XII pass applicants), or 50% average marks in their most recent University Exams (for graduate or postgraduate applicants).
4. Applicants must be a fresh candidate for a particular course.
Requirements:
1. Copies of the most recent and the preceding Board or University exam certificates (i.e. class X and XII for the school graduate applicants, class XII and Bachelor’s degree for the graduate applicants, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degree for the post graduate applicants.)
2. Copy of the school or university character certificate.
3. Copies of the applicants’ and the parents’ updated RC and Green Book testifying that all dues thereof have been cleared at least up to February 2008.
4. Where either or both the parents of a candidate has/have expired, or is/are in Tibet, or if either of the parents is non-Tibetan a letter testifying this fact is needed from the Tibetan Welfare Officer/Settlement Officer or from the Office of the school last attended.
5. If your family is in the official CTA Nyamthak list, a proof thereof signed by the concerned settlement officer/ Tibetan Welfare Officer.
6. Details of fees for the applicants’ chosen course as given in the Prospectus or any other official documents of the concerned educational institution.
7. Selected candidates shall be required to show the documents/ certificates in original at the time of meeting with the Director, TC India.
Terms and Conditions:
1. Any decision taken by Tibet Charity on the recommendation of its Selection Committee shall be final and no correspondence shall be entered into thereafter.
2. Except for those falling in the CTA Nyamthak list, a certain percentage (from 25% to 75%) of the total fees shall be expected to be borne by the parents.
3. Preference will be given to those who are from weaker financial background with consistent positive performance record in his/her studies.
4. A commitment shall be required in writing by the selected candidates, stating that at least 50% of the total scholarship amount will be returned to T.C. following their successful job placement. This contribution can be paid back in mutually agreed easy installments and shall be used to support more needy candidates in future.
5. Any attempt to contact the Tibet Charity Administration through phone calls, in person or through other sources seen as an attempt to influence decisions in a particular candidate’s or candidates’ favour shall entail immediate cancellation of the application.
6. For receiving the scholarship for the second and third year, the students are required to submit the annual attendance certificate and a copy of the final mark statement duly attested by the University authority.
The student must have obtained:-
a. A minimum of 75% class attendance.
b. A minimum of 50% marks in the last exam.
7. No applications received after the closing date shall be entertained under any circumstances.
8. The above provisions are based on the assumption that Tibet Charity’s commitment for scholarship in a year shall not exceed the maximum amount of Rs.37’000.00 and the duration of the course is no longer than three years
Selection Procedure:
After the applications and the required documents are checked, they shall be put up to the Scholarship Selection Committee who shall then submit a written and signed list of the selected candidates, along with 5 candidates in a waiting list to the Director of Tibet Charity for his final decision. The candidates selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee shall be required to appear before the Director of Tibet Charity on a given date to discuss the final formalities.
Selection schedule:
a. 21st June 2008: Last date for receipt of application forms.
b. 24th June 2008: Checking of the applications and documents.
c. 26th June 2008: Selection of the candidates by the Scholarship Selection Committee.
d. 28th June 2008: Notification of the selection to the selected candidates.
e. 5th July 2008: Meeting of the selected candidates with the Director, T.C. for final selection.
Payment Procedure:
1. 1st Instalment (30%): After the receipt of the Admission Confirmation Proof from the university or training Institute.
2. 2nd Instalment (30%): After the receipt of the first terminal/exam result along with a report of the class attendance
3. 3rd Instalment (40%): After the receipt of the second terminal/exam result along with a report of the class attendance.
